For passionate climbers and experienced mountaineers, the Sas Rigais via ferrata is an unmissable opportunity. Its summit, the Sass Rigais, rises to an impressive height of 3025 metres. This adventure involves an ascent and descent and takes about seven hours on a 10 km route.
Before you start the ascent, you can take a short panoramic walk with views of the spectacular hostage. The entrance to the via ferrata Sas Rigais is at the foot of the Sass Rigais, west of the pass. Via Ferrata Furcela de Saslonch
In 2021 was opened the Via Ferrata Forcella del Sassolungo, a real jewel for mountaineers and climbers. Despite the relatively short distance of about 500 meters, this via ferrata offers thrills and challenges with steep passages, rocky outcrops and an unforgettable adrenaline rush.
The comfortable Bidonvia takes you up to the Langkofelscharte, which is located below the Toni Demetz Hut. There, at the foot of the Punta delle Cinque Dita, you will easily find the starting point of the via ferrata. Before you start your adventure, enjoy the view from the Bidonvia and observe the rocky ridge on which the route runs.
Despite the physical challenge and training required, you’ll complete the entire route in just three and a half hours, including a well-deserved break on the bench halfway up, where you can also sign the summit book. Due to its relatively short duration, this new via ferrata can also be done in half a day.
Via ferrata Gran Cir
The Great Cir rises majestically as an imposing rock tower above the Gardena Pass in the Dolomites. Viewed from the south, steep rock faces stretch up to the summit, but you don’t need to be a climbing pro to scale this mountain. A secured path leads to the 2592 meter high summit. Experienced mountaineers can easily manage this route without special climbing equipment. Beginners will find the normal route on the Grosse Cir an excellent opportunity to take their first steps on a via ferrata.
What makes the Great Cir particularly attractive is the short approach and the overwhelming panorama from the summit. You can hardly get enough of the surrounding mountains: To the west, the view stretches as far as the Ortler, the highest mountain in South Tyrol, to the south rises the mighty Sella massif, and to the east you can marvel at the impressive Dolomite giants Tofana, Antelao, Civetta and many more.
This unique geographical position makes the Great Cir a popular destination to experience the sunrise or sunset.
